Grade 2 Homeroom Teacher

General Description

The Grade 2 Homeroom Teacher leads, inspires, and promotes student learning within the Elementary division, focusing on the American curriculum (Common Core standards). The successful candidate must be well-versed in unit development using backward planning and will collaborate closely with division coordinators and curriculum leaders to ensure

Instruction meets the needs of each student.

Responsibilities

Required Subjects

The teacher will lead instruction for Reading, English Language Arts (ELA), and Social Studies. Competent teaching of Mathematics and Science courses at the Elementary level is also mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, and evaluate all lessons in accordance with the school's curriculum and US standards.
• Teach, manage, and monitor children in the classroom, overseeing their behavior and well-being.
• Collaborate with the Elementary Head and Academic Administrators to ensure learning goals are consistently met.
• Implement various teaching techniques to encourage creativity and enthusiasm in student learning.
• Maintain accurate records of student progress, including grade books and student portfolios.
• Communicate regularly with parents or guardians about their child’s academic and overall improvement.
• Attends all required school training, seminars, activities, and meetings.
• Perform administrative duties related to teaching as required.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Education or a related field.
• Experience: Minimum 3 years full-time teaching experience in an accredited school.
• Language: Native fluency in English (Native speaker or equivalent fluency required).
• Technology: Proficient in using Google Suite and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

Preferred Qualifications

• BA/BSc in Education, BA/BSc with M.Ed./PGCE/equivalent.
• Teaching Credential: A full, internationally recognized teaching certification is required (e.g., B.Ed., U.S. State License, PGCE, or equivalent).
• Experience teaching the Common Core Curriculum.
• Training in Child protection and safety.

Mandatory Screening

• Provide three (3) professional referee contacts (including your current Head of School/Principal). All referees will be contacted.
• A teaching demonstration may be required.
