General Description
NIVA American International School is seeking a Secondary Humanities and/or Business Teacher of exceptional ability. At NIVA, the social sciences and business disciplines form an essential part of our students’ preparation for university pathways in business, economics, and the social sciences. The successful candidate will deliver rigorous, standards-aligned instruction that develops students’ analytical thinking and understanding of both academic and real-world contexts across multiple grade levels. We are looking for a teacher with strong expertise in Humanities or Business at the secondary level who can connect theory to practice and guide students in applying their learning to real-world contexts and decision-making.
Required Subjects
Courses may include middle school and high school Humanities and/or Business, including Advanced Placement (AP), depending on assignment. The ability to teach across both Humanities and Business disciplines is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Strategically plan and deliver engaging lessons aligned with the school’s curriculum and U.S. standards to promote active learning and student curiosity.
- Teach, manage, and monitor students in the classroom, ensuring their safety and well-being while supporting their behavior and overall development across social, emotional, intellectual, and physical domains, as well as character development, including self-esteem and integrity.
- Implement various teaching techniques to encourage creativity and enthusiasm in student learning.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress, including grade books and student portfolios.
- Collaborate with school leaders to ensure learning goals are consistently met.
- Communicate regularly with parents or guardians about their child’s academic and overall improvement.
- Attend all required school training, seminars, activities, and meetings.
- Perform administrative duties related to teaching as required.
Expected Requirements
- Language: American English proficiency required, demonstrated through an interview, with the ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues in an academic English environment, and committed to modeling and teaching pronunciation to students.
- Experience: Minimum of two years full-time teaching experience; experience in an American curriculum or U.S.-accredited schools, if possible.
- Expertise: Has a strong understanding of Common Core State Standards (CCSS) and the MAP/NWEA data analysis skills to implement targeted instructional interventions to improve student learning outcomes.
- Certification: Candidates must hold a degree in Education or a related field. A valid teaching license is preferred. Applicants with other degrees may be considered if they possess substantial teaching experience and demonstrate a commitment to a long-term career in education. All candidates must be willing to obtain a Thai or international teaching qualification to meet the requirements for a Thai Teaching License.
Professional Expectations
- Approximately 24 teaching periods per week (45-minute periods)
- Homeroom, supervision, and classroom management responsibilities
- Attendance at all meetings and school functions
Mandatory Screening
- Provide three (3) professional referee contacts (including current Head of School/Principal). All referees will be contacted
- A teaching demonstration may be required
